About Us
Bev and her American Eskimoe, Atsak started agility together in Nanaimo in 1996. He spent more time going backwards on a course than forward! He did manage to Bev’s absolute delight to earn his ADC (Agility Dog of Canada) before retiring due to blindness. Forever known as “Atsak ADC” 1991-2006
By the time Atsak was retiring it was time for “Belle” Bev’s first Bernese Mountain Dog, to start her very short lived trialing career! Belle did fairly well as long as there was no ring crew, no gate steward, no judge would have been nice, or else she would be off visiting! Visiting was certainly her niche in life! Belle is a wonderful therapy dog. You can often find her skulking the halls of the local hospitals looking for a friendly pat. Bev and Belle are also involved in a childrens reading program, promoting literacy. Well done Belle!
Everyone who owns a Bernese Mountain Dog knows that you can’t just have one! So, along came “Flora”. Flora and Bev and had quite the history together. They have won many BC/Yukon Regionals, Overall Top Dog at Regionals and even a National win. Flora also has many Canadian Kennel Club titles under her belt, not only for agility but for her Draft work too. (both in Canada and the USA). While titles are nice to earn the joy of running this girl and feeling a perfect partnership has been a true highlight for Bev. Flora at nine years old in 2006 is looking to retire to a lower impact dog sport of Rally.
Just when Bev thought that she had had her once in a lifetime partner, along came “Magz”! (daughter of Flora). Maggie has her mums work ethic times 10! Still not quite in synk, Bev feels this girl is special. Magz had a great 2006 with a Regional win and a 2nd place showing at Nationals. She also has earned her obedience titles and all of her Canadian and American Draft titles. A great highlight this past year was Flora and Magz earning their Brace Draft Dog Excellent title on Flora’s birthday! Maggie can also been found in the hallways of our local hospital visiting anyone! Sick, young, old, doctors, nurses…she doesn’t care! Also involved in the READ program with kids, Maggie is quite willing to stretch out and listen to a story.
Bev and her Berners are also found performing with “SUPERDOGS”
It’s all about Fun, Fun, Fun!
Havin’ a dog can be “the best fun”
Bev lives locally with husband, Stan. They both enjoy the outdoors. Stan’s love of golf and Bev’s love of dog sports often takes them in separate directions but have often been spotted, shovels in hand, at HIGHRUN to continue to finish and improve this facility for all to play at!
